Professional Responsibility
As an art educator, I believe that teaching is a dynamic, evolving practice that demands both critical reflection and a deep commitment to the communities I serve. Through years of experience as a camp counselor and team leader, I have developed strong leadership and communication skills, learning how to create inclusive, engaging environments where all children feel seen and supported. My internship with ArtWorks for Milwaukee further deepened my understanding of youth empowerment and community-centered arts education, reinforcing my belief that art can be a powerful vehicle for personal and social transformation.
At the university level, my coursework and field experiences in art education methods have equipped me with a solid foundation in curriculum design, culturally responsive teaching, and assessment. These experiences have helped shape my reflective teaching practice—one that continuously asks, What am I doing, why am I doing it, and how can I do it better?
Professionalism to me means showing up with integrity, humility, and an openness to growth. I am committed to fostering safe, equitable learning spaces where all students can thrive, and I recognize the responsibility I hold in modeling lifelong learning, collaboration, and respect. Whether in a classroom, museum, or community setting, I view my role not just as a teacher of art—but as a mentor, advocate, and learner alongside my students.
