Creative Word Combos: A Lesson from My Field Experience
In this 45-minute Art and ELA integrated lesson for 2nd grade, students will explore nouns, verbs, and adjectives through imaginative art-making. After a brief review of word types, students will select two nouns, one verb, and one adjective to inspire their artwork. Using chalk pastels, they will first draw individual representations of their chosen words and then combine them into a single creative piece, blending visual elements to illustrate their unique word combination. The lesson emphasizes vocabulary understanding, creativity, and proper use of art materials. Students will conclude by sharing their work and reflecting on the process.
